Who we are

Nolan Chapman, a sole proprietor in California, USA, is the controller of the personal data described here. For anything about your data, email support@configeditor.app.

What we collect and why

When you buy. Paddle collects your payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive your email, country and order details from Paddle so we can send your license key, help you and handle refunds. This is needed to carry out our agreement with you.

Your license. We store your license key, an anonymous ID for your PC, activation dates and the app version. The PC ID is a scrambled code made from a Windows ID; it does not contain your name or hardware details. We use it only to keep each license to one PC and to stop key sharing.

Emails we send. If you ask us to resend your key or restore a purchase, we use your email and a one time code that expires after 10 minutes.

Update checks. The app asks our server if a new version exists and downloads updates from it. Like any internet request, this sends your IP address and the app version. We use these requests only to deliver updates and to count roughly how many copies are in use.

Support. If you contact us, we keep what you send so we can answer.

This website. Our host, Cloudflare, processes IP addresses and request details to serve and protect the site.

What stays on your PC

Your settings files, backups, measurements and anything the app’s tools read from your PC stay on your PC. The app does not send your files, keystrokes, browsing or game data anywhere. It only sends what is listed above. If a future feature needs to send anything else, we will update this policy before that feature ships.

Cookies

This site does not use tracking or advertising cookies. Our host, Cloudflare, may set cookies it needs to keep the site secure, and Paddle’s checkout may use cookies it needs for payment and fraud prevention, described in Paddle’s policy.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your data or share it for advertising. We only share it with:

• Paddle, our reseller and Merchant of Record, to process orders, taxes and refunds
• Cloudflare, which hosts our website and license server and sends our emails
• professional advisers, such as an accountant, when needed
• authorities, when the law requires it

Where data is processed

Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. They protect transfers with legal safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep it

Order and license records are kept while your license exists and for as long as tax and accounting rules require. Restore codes expire after 10 minutes. Server logs are kept for 30 days. Support emails are kept for up to 2 years after your last message.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including the EU, the UK and California, you can ask to see, correct, delete or export your data, object to or limit how we use it, and withdraw consent. Email support@configeditor.app and we will reply within one month. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. If you ask us to delete your license data, we can no longer verify your license.

Security

Everything is sent over encrypted connections, license data is signed so it cannot be faked, and only we can access our license records.

Children

The app and this site are not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy, the date at the top changes. If a change matters, we will say so on this site.
